Tallecia used to work in a feed store and realized she was selling deworming and medical products for illnesses she didn’t fully understand herself. She ended up studying veterinary technology to have her questions answered! Now Tallecia cares for pets every day as a Veterinary Technician.
Originally from Magnolia, Tallecia attended Lone Star College-Tomball to earn her degree in veterinary technology. Here at the clinic, she’s particularly fond of performing blood draws and examining pathogen samples under the microscope.
Tallecia lives in Hockley with her two pets, Simon and Maddie. When she isn’t spending time with them or tending to the needs of the area’s pets here at the hospital, Tallecia enjoys growing tadpoles and making her own jewelry—she’s even sold some of her pieces!
Maria was born and raised in Snow Hill, North Carolina. Her father worked at a hog farm and started taking her with him when she was four years old. It was this event that helped eventually bring her into the veterinary industry. “Growing around chickens, goats, horses, dogs, cats, and ducks made me more curious about how animals lived and saw a veterinarian come and visit every once in a while made me start thinking about that as a career.” When she was eight, she helped a mama goat give birth and even had to assist with positioning the baby for an easier birth! “That was the day I decided to go into the veterinary field.”
Maria went to school at the Vet Tech Institute of Houston and completed her schooling online to earn her Associate’s degree. Her passion is being in the lab!
Maria’s passion are her sons, Alonso and Isaac. She loves working with animals, but her favorite is farm animals as that’s what she grew up with!
Meet our awesome receptionist, Olivia! Another awesome human from Montgomery County!
Why did she want to be in the veterinary industry? “When I was a baby, still just crawling, I took off down the road when my mom took my brother inside over a scraped knee or cup of water. When she found me, a pack of neighborhood dogs, 4 or 5 of them, were surrounding me and protecting me. I’ve wanted to help animals all of my life. I share a special bond with them.”
After volunteering at Vista Veterinary Hospital, she found her way to the Lake Conroe team, and we’re so happy to have her. Plus, she loves spending her days doing what she loves. She loves greeting patients and clients as they walk in, using her friendliness to set the tone for the entire visit. She also loves holding our patients to let them know everything will be okay.
At home, she has Belle – a hyper little puppy who likes to play and cuddle. She is also learning to listen to Olivia’s two-year-old who loves to boss her around! In her spare time, she loves pleasure writing. She handwrote a 137-page book in junior high and is working on another story now. She also loves photography and scrapbooking her daughter’s life.
